Day 341: Smash Cake

I wanted to do Rylee's smash cake pictures at home before we put up our Christmas decorations inside. I'm trying my darnedest to keep Christmas and her birthday separate, so we did the pictures today! I took them because my fave photographer (Trisha with TG Photography) was all booked up- that's what I get for procrastinating- so they aren't the best, but they work. After a disastrous icing incident and a "quick" trip to Wal-Mart, the cake looked horrible, but Rylee stole the show!

Day 340: Growing Up

Rylee's taking a nap and the dishes are clean and I don't plan on doing laundry until later, so why not blog? I'm sure I should be doing something else, but I have no desire for that :)

My baby girl is going to be 1 year old in just 25 short days. How can that be?! Wasn't it just last week she was born and completely dependent on me? Wasn't it just yesterday she was learning to roll over? Wasn't it just this morning she was learning to crawl?! Now I have a walking, independent toddler.

She spends most of her days running around the living room stopping in short bursts to play and then back to toddling around. She chases Dodger when he lets her, but chasing Paul and I suffices too. Then, she squeals when we turn it around and start chasing her. We still cuddle every morning with an episode or two of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse- though the only parts she cares about are when they sing. Then it's off to the kitchen for breakfast and then playtime. I always have PBS on, but she never stops until Signing Time! comes on. She loves signing and Rachel, though she prefers Baby Signing Time- it's more interactive and cartoonish.

I still can't believe how fast we got to where we are. How has it already been a year? I know time seems to go faster every year, but this was insanely fast!! I feel like I barely turned around...

December 27th will be a bittersweet day, and I'm sure I will cry a little bit. I didn't cry when Rylee was born- I was too emotionally awestruck and in love, but on her birthday I'm sure the tears will come from just remembering all the good, bad, wonderful, and terrifying moments.

This was a pointless post but it's just what I was thinking.

Day 335: 1 month until 1 = 11 months old!

Baby Girl you are 11 months old today! You are walking all over the place and are such a toddler. You have 4 teeth now and are so happy. You are down to 1 nap a day. You started signing "more" and then the next day you were clapping up a storm. You love your Penny the Pig stuffed animal and, of course, Dodger is your absolute favorite. You love crawling into his bed with him and following him everywhere.

You are 29.5" and 23lb10oz (approx.)- BIG girl! You tried out some coconut milk mixed with formula today. You didn't seem to mind. Today we started replacing your mid-day bottle with a sippy. There wasn't a meltdown but you also feel asleep in the car instead of me rocking you, so it was different. I'm so ready to have you off of formula- it smells bad, messed with your stomach, and is expensive. I don't think you are anywhere close to being ready for cow's milk though, so we are going to stick with lactose-free (like your formula) Silk Coconut (or Almond) milk.

Your daddy and I love you more and more everyday! You make us laugh and smile all the time. You love talking on the phone and have perfected "hello" when the phone rings. You have full sentences but we have no idea what you're saying, but we're pretty sure you're going to be quite the chatterbox! You're louder than most other babies we know and it usually scares people at first and then they find it just as funny as we do.

I've started planning your birthday party to the extreme- I have a theme and the invitations addressed and ready to go. We are going to be doing your party in January to avoid all the holiday festivities. I'm pretty excited about your party, though I'm still looking for the pause button so that we don't even have to let you turn 1!

You are such a blessing in our lives and can never imagine you not in our lives- with just your presence you have created our family. Love you bug!

Day 305: TEN!!!!

Um, Miss Griffiths, who allowed you to turn ten months old? I know it wasn't your daddy or me! I can't believe how much you've grown, especially looking at pictures at the day you were born. This month has been a huge learning month for you.

You can grab our nose if we ask you were it is, you can "talk" on the telephone, you wave hello and bye-bye, and you are taking steps here and there! You are 27.5" and 22lb12oz approximately, so still growing! We can just tell that you are absorbing everything around you and applying it to yourself. When you have your cell phone (one of Dad's old ones) we always say "Say hello!" and you immediately put the phone to your mouth and babble in this high-pitch tone and then continue to converse altering your tone! You are totally have conversations and it is the cutest thing!

You are definitely getting closer and closer to being a toddler. You actually sit on the couch and snuggle with me and/or dad, and not just try to crawl off the side. You are so close to walking- it's scary! You will walk around holding our hand, and take a step or two by yourself. We always cheer real exuberantly every time you do, and you have started saying "aaaayyyyyy" (your version of yay) with us! How cute are you?!

You now have 3 teeth and the 4th one is close behind it. I don't think 5 and 6 are too far behind either, though a break would be nice. This coming weekend were going to HallowZOOeen with our friends, and you're going to be a bumblebee! I can't wait to dress you up, though I bet you fight it :)

Tomorrow, I will do a month of October picture post :)

Day 274: Three Quarters

So I've been a horrible blogger/updater! I didn't even do an 8 month post! Rylee please forgive me :)

I don't know what I've posted that you've done and what I haven't, so I'll just talk about all the things you do that impacts my life everyday. First let's start with your statistics! You weigh 21lb13oz (92%ile), you are 27-1/4" tall (41%ile), and your head is 17" (33.5%ile) around! You are growing so much and getting so big!

You can still wear 3-6 month dresses, but not much else in that size! You are in 6-9 month onesies, 9 month pants for the most part, if it's jeans then it's 12-18 months due to your cloth diapers, and 12 month PJs! You are sleeping great at night, usually 11 hours straight. I think you are trying to go down to 1 nap, but you can't quite make it yet, though you are getting closer. Your morning nap is fantastic, your afternoon nap is short and sometimes nonexistent, but that's OK. It makes bedtime that much easier.

You are crawling around faster than ever, especially when you see the dog's water bowl. You are standing on everything and letting go more and more for longer periods of time- I suspect you'll be taking steps soon. That is something I'm not ready for. Chasing you around while crawling is one thing, but once you start walking and running, it'll be completely different! We are spending more and more time outside now that the heat is subsiding and you love it! You love playing fetch with the dogs, I let you throw the ball (with my help of course) and you love Tess catching it and bringing it back.

This past month you had your first ear infection, which led to your first bout with diarrhea, which lead to your first diaper rash, that I'm now having problems getting rid of. You have been in disposables more this past month than since we switched to cloth diapers. I can't wait to be back in cloth exclusively, but we need to get you healed first.

You are on table foods exclusively and love feeding yourself. I'm having trouble adding variety to your meals, but you seem to be getting picky and only wanting fruits to eat. You love grilled cheese and mac n cheese though. You seem to be following in your daddy's footsteps.

You are at such a fun age right now!! You are so happy and exploratory, except when I'm cooking- you hate that. I look forward to each and every day with you, and love watching you learn and figure out new things. You are the light of my life and hold my whole heart in those little hands of yours. I can't believe the holidays and your birthday are right around the corner. I have an idea of what I want to do for the party, but I keep going back and forth between 2 options and have a hard time deciding, but I can't wait to start planning!

Love you bug!!

Day 241: A New Adventure

Well, I'm just horrible about blogging now! It's crazy how different a mobile baby can change the time in your life! Rylee is doing great! She will be 8 months on Saturday, so we'll do her official update then. This post is going to be mostly about me :)

On Monday, I became an Independent Scentsy Consultant. Scentsy is an AWESOME product! It is a smokeless, wickless, flameless candle! They are also lead free. This is great for all homes, especially those with kids. I love this product and am excited to sell it. They have 80 amazing scents and 80 beautiful warmers. They also have other products that come in their fabulous scents- Rylee loves the Scentsy buddy.

I can do individual orders, host in-home (mine or yours) parties, do basket parties (you take the scents with you to work and family and collect orders), or even Facebook parties. I set your party up on my website, you invite all your friends on Facebook, and they place their orders online. As the host for any of these parties, you get free Scentsy products and products at 50% off!

My website is http://leighanngriffiths.scentsy.us if you are interested in looking up anything, or you can contact me with any questions or to set up a party. My bedroom smells delicious today, since I got all my tester scents in :)

OK, business LeighAnn out!
